CAS Programme
Students are encouraged to use their leisure time purposefully. "C.A.S." or Creativity, Action and Service is the term for the school's extra-curricular activities, its clubs and societies. Middle School students choose their CAS activity, in consultation with their Tutor, so as to include at least one new skill and one service activity each academic year.
Aiglon takes seriously the importance of life outside the classroom and the importance of learning through personal experience. C.A.S provides a counterbalance to academic studies. Through out the year students are required to participate in a balanced programme of creativity, action and service outside the normal curriculum. CAS provides an opportunity for students to develop activities they find of particular interest. This might be in a rock band, climbing club or learning to make their own clothes. CAS also encompasses the sports and PE programme for the 5th and 6 from. It acknowledges changes in young people interests and allows them to make choices providing opportunities for participation in team sports as well as ‘sport for life’ activities such as fitness, squash and dance.
Service is strong in the ethos of the school and CAS provides students many opportunities to help the school, local and international community. Students might choose to help recycle, bake to raise funds for a charity, help juniors reading, organise plays for children in a local primary school, or providing lunch with the elderly of the village.
There are approximately 100 activities from which normally include adventure club, astronomy, baking for charity, ballet, book club, chess club, choir, climbing, current affairs, dance, debating, drama, fashion design, Duke of Edinburgh award, film making, football, fitness, global issues, helping local primary school children, investment club, meals for the elderly, model united nations, karate, painting on porcelain, jazz band, rock band, recycling, riding, round square, Spanish film club, stand-up comedy, swimming, volley ball, yearbook production .
