Alpina
Alpina is a boys’ boarding house which sits in a rather majestic fashion overlooking the Aiglon campus and provides beautiful views of the valley below. Thanks to the strong pastoral team who live and work there, Alpina demands and receives the boys’ loyalty, hard work and commitment throughout the year. The boys are continuously encouraged, during their time in Alpina, to look within and focus on becoming the best that they can be in any and every situation. This message is reinforced by Alpina’s motto which is often referred to during house meetings and events and is also proudly displayed in the entrance hall of the building; ‘More is in you than you think, be the best you can’.
Expeditions, playing music in bands and concerts, inter house sports events, debating competitions and daily silent study are but a few of the activities that the Alpina boys are encouraged to participate in (and be the ‘best that they can’ in). Alpina is also well-known for being a very sociable house and prides itself on hosting regular social events such as the annual Alpina Ball, the Alpina Curry Lunch and the Alpina Unplugged concert, all of which are looked forward to with enthusiasm. This is partly because of the immaculately organised occasions themselves and partly due to the boys’ well renowned impeccable manners and gentlemanly conduct that is always on display throughout such events.
Thomas and Kathrin Krueger, house parents of Alpina, are clear in their aims; to encourage their charges to be well rounded boys during their time at Aiglon and to guide them into becoming fine young men who strive to live their adult years by rigorous moral and religious principles when they leave the school.
