ESL (English as a Second Language) and the Admissions Process
Applications to Aiglon College are welcomed from students whose first language is not English. If required, an ESL programme is provided to students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Forms. An extra charge is made to parents for this provision.
As part of the Admissions process, prospective students whose first language is not English will be required to sit an ESL entrance test. Students will sit one of three tests: Level 1, Level 2, Combined Levels 1 and 2. These ESL tests are in addition to the Maths, main English and General Ability/IQ tests which all prospective students making an application to Aiglon must sit.
In exceptional circumstances when prospective students speak very little or no English, Aiglon College uses a completely non-verbal General Ability/IQ assessment called the “Raven’s Test”.
The parents of prospective ESL students are made aware of the above details, which are discussed by email, telephone or in person when parents visit the school.
