You can click on the full screen button on the bottom right side of the screen) ...... This was the first Benefit by the new Board of the Friends of Aiglon College UK headed by Cynthia Crites (’78) ....
The Benefit was unique and truly memorable for it was held in 2 parts in London and in Surrey ..... There was a solid mixture of alumni and parents .... Aiglon was well represent by many Governors as well as by Junior School Head Master Didier Boutroux and Gay Boutroux as well Director of External Relations Mark Silverstein ...... The Hublot watch company was our silver corporate sponsor and Clinque La Prairie was our bronze corporate sponsor......
Friday 3rd June was the setting for part 1 which started off with an elegant Cocktail Reception at the home of the Swiss Ambassador who graciously hosted us ..... this was followed by a delicious Dinner at the elegant Front Parlour Dining Room at the Home House Club on Portman Square .... We collectively wished Egon Vorfeld (’85, Governor) a Happy Birthday and ate his birthday cake for our dessert. The auction items were diverse offering an opportunity for some really nice items and holiday stays .....
We left London early the next morning for Guildford in Surrey about an hours drive from London and checked into the Mandolay Hotel .... Shortly thereafter we were picked up for our coach ride to the famous Cowdray Estate in west Sussex where we had a quick lunch followed by 30 rounds each of clay pigeon shooting .... The girls team was very competitive with the boys and surprised with their skills .... We came back to Guildford with just enough time to change into our black tie with ba twist attire for the most amazing Rock Concert at Wintershalll (the Hutley Family (Edward (’81), and Henrietta (’83) estate) .... We had our private marquee on the grounds complete with 2 chandeliers and tables with chairs for a sit down dinner and an open bar (mostly courtesy of William Grant & Sons Iwho also provided us with miniaures for the gift bags)- Lloyd Gordon Grant ('82) ...... The music performers were truly of the highest caliber : Amongst the variety of performers were The Fabba Girls who sing Abba songs, Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones played a few songs as he had his own marquee at the concert, Roger Taylor of Queen, Gary Booker, Lulu, Jeff Beck who was amazing, and the legend that is Eric Clapton. The evening ended with a fireworks display that set the night time sky alight for more than 15 minutes.
We missed all of you who could not be with us and we look forward to welcoming you ate the next UK event being planned as a Reception for the Spring on 2012 ....
