A brief synopsis follows for you below :

FOAC EU hosted their annual Benefit in Rome, the home of FOAC EU President Alessandro Corsini (’75). The eternal city did not disappoint us for a weekend of events were planned as most attendees had traveled to be there. The entire Board of FOAC EU worked very hard toward this Benefit as planning started a year ago with a prepartory visit that took place in September 2010 to secure the venues as well as to meet with the Swiss Ambassador.

We started off on Friday evening 27th May atop the Spanish Steps with welcome Cocktail Receptions at Bellora hosted by Masha Prunas (’87) and at Atelier Sole hosted by Soledad and Alessandro Twombly (’78, P’14, ’17).... The graciously hosted receptions added an ease which allowed us to mingle and feel welcome to the Eternal City...... This was followed by a group dinner at the very fine restaurant Nino’s. A mixture of Alumni, current Parents, and Friends made for a wonderful mix of people all gathered in support of the John Corlette Scholarship Endowment Fund and the Seba CZ Shcolarship Fund at Aiglon College.

Saturday morning started early with a visit to the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, which really felt like a cultural expedition of our days as students at Aiglon. This was followed by the Mont Blanc ticket holders lunch in the Quirnale Room at the Casina Valadier in the Villa Borghese Park with superb views of the hills surrounding the center of Rome. I must say that Roman food is delicious and the Proseco smooth ... We gathered for Cocktails at the magnificent Mediterranean with a Medieval style interior Villa that is the Swiss Ambassador’s Residence where we were graciously hosted By Ambassador Bernadino and Mrs Regazzino ..... Shana Grossman treated us to a lovely aria performance where her voice resonated beautifully filling the vast interiors of the grand room. This was followed by our Benefit Dinner at the Circolo degli Scacchi at the Palazzo Rondanini with its old world aristocratic splendor and grandeur. The Roman seafood based feast for dinner was sumptuous and we collectively wished alumni and life governor Julian Izant (’72) a Happy Birthday.

Sunday morning was the Scooter tour of Rome followed by a light group lunch at restaurant Baffeta. Arrividerci Roma the lovely eternal city. Thank you to all who were there, and we hope to see you all at the FOAC EU Benefit 2012 being planned for Barcelona towards the end of May ...
