The Seba CZ Scholarship Fund Update 2011
by Mrs Fiorina Zavanelli
The Seba CZ Scholarship Fund was inspired by the wish of AEA Investors to honour Seba’s contribution to their private equity activities. The Fund was developed by family and friends with the aim of realising Seba’s own wish: to create opportunities for bright and motivated young people from socially challenged backgrounds.
Seba visited Starehe Boys Centre in December 1990 as a student at Aiglon, and he was very impressed by his experience there. Messages such as ‘Aim High’ (Natulenge Juu, the school’s motto) and 'From Those To Whom Much Has Been Given Much Will Be Required' left a deep mark. The fundraising campaign launched in London in June 2004 developed this aspiration into a real desire to contribute actively.
And so we strive, in the spirit of Seba’s clear intentions, to build up a permanently endowed fund that will honour his memory in perpetuity, generating enough income to sponsor one student at any one time at Aiglon. We are therefore happy and proud to announce that, after a rigorous interview process, the first beneficiary of this scholarship is David M. Kimondiu.
