Tony Jashanmal Sports Centre Inauguration
On Friday 10 February 2012, close to 200 people were in attendance for the opening of the Tony Jashanmal Sports Centre, coinciding with Winter Term Parents Weekend. Aiglon tents and a red carpet welcomed everyone at the entrance. Radio Chablais and 24 Heures covered the inauguration. Mark Elliott, Chairman of the Board of Aiglon College Association, spoke of Aiglon's history starting from one building in 1949 to the transformation in 2012 of today's campus comprising of 19 buildings including the brand new Sports Centre. Aiglon's Head Master, Richard McDonald, thanked donors and brought forth some of the school's major donors to be thanked by everyone for making this new building possible.
Tony Jashanmal ('65), Aiglon Governor, thanked life members and members of the Villars community for coming to see the new facility, and he then cut the red ribbon, allowing everyone to visit the entire building. Egon Vorfeld ('85, Governor) and Jonathan Fackelmayer ('95) displayed an autographed Swiss Tennis national team t-shirt from Roger Federer, wishing us the best with the inauguration of our new Sports Centre. The Basket Ball Club of Monthey then organised an exhibition match mixing professional players with members of Aiglon's basketball team.
