Departmental Goals
Aiglon College is in a unique position to develop a comprehensive programme in Space Science, both within the School and in the wider community. The goals of the Aiglon College Space Science Department, are as follows:
1) To provide the Aiglon community with varied and stimulating educational opportunities in all aspects of Space Science.
2) To develop Space Science in the Aiglon curriculum, through the middle-school science programme and the GCSE Astronomy course, and also with regard to future curriculum developments, such as the IB, where Astronomy can play an important part in Science education.
3) To promote and organise cross-curricular space-related activities with other academic and non-academic departments. This includes whole-school cultures and exhibitions, including at Parents’ Weekend, as well as expeditions.
4) To develop opportunities for public service through links with the local community, including public outreach activities in partnership with Villars Tourisme and other local groups.
5) To develop networking opportunities and collaborative projects with other schools, including local Swiss schools, international schools and other organisations.
6) To develop further links with major space agencies to enhance the opportunities in Space Science education offered at Aiglon.
7) To develop make Aiglon’s unique facilities, location and resources to create
a centre of international excellence in Astronomy and Space Science.
