Activities Programme

Aiglon's activities programme offers a range of learning opportunities for students to develop skills and build experiences, allowing them to follow their passions while encouraging them to also try something new.

From Model United Nations (MUN) to Climbing and Astronomy, there is something for everyone. Our activities programme is designed to exist within the framework our Guiding Principles: encouraging students into activities which promote the balanced development of mind, body and spirit. Each activity is divided into one of these areas to help students develop and try new things in a holistic, fun context.

Many students also take on the challenge and opportunity of leading their own activity, introducing their own personal passion or interest to the Aiglon community.

Programmes

Activities are scheduled each day of the week after lessons finish. Each activity is supervised and run by a member of Aiglon's staff and takes place from 15h15 to 16h15 and 16h20 to 17h20.

As part of students' commitment to Aiglon's holistic approach to education, each student is required to meet the activity requirements for their year group .

Years 5 - 8

As part of Aiglon's Junior School, students have access to a wide range of activities developed for their level. Students are required to participate in a minimum of 4 activities per week in the autumn and summer terms and 3 in the winter term.

Activities might include learning to mountain bike or spending a winter's night baking something nice!

Years 9 - 11

Student's in Aiglon's Discovery Programme or following the IGCSE curriculum participate in a minimum of 3 activities per week in the autumn and summer terms and 2 in the winter term.

Each activity culminates in students undertaking individual and collective reflection in order to understand their activity within the framework of Aiglon's Guiding Principles for Learning.

Years 12 - 13

As part of Aiglon's International Baccalaureate Diploma students participate in a minimum of 2 activities per week across the school year. Activities for these year groups are more developed and give intentional space for reflection.

This is important because as required by the IB, students undertake a CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) project focused on on one of the experiences in order demonstrate the key concepts of holistic education.

Pathway to Success

To move into Aiglon's final years all students are expected to develop as well-rounded young people and must achieve beyond just the framework of our academic programmes. All Aiglonians are expected to engage with the activities, expedition and sport programmes in order to progress through the school.

A balance of experiences is encouraged and students will select at least one activity from each of the Mind, Body or Spirit offerings over the course of each year.

Activity Options

Each term, students are given the opportunity to join activities which match the conditions of the season. In accordance with the expectations explained above, tutors and houseparents support each student in ensuring that they participate in a balanced activities programme from some of the below options;
