Aiglon Cup 2026: Record Participation at Swiss Alpine Skiing Competition

The 12th annual Aiglon Cup Ski Competition welcomed 470 ski racers representing 19 international schools to our local ski resort, Villars-sur-Ollon.

From 8-10 March this premier, multi-day, alpine skiing competition served as a high-level event for the under 10 to 19 (U10-U19) age groups to compete in Giant Slalom (GS), Slalom, Parallel Slalom and Combi races. Throughout the year, some of the racers compete at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) level, regional and national level in Switzerland and across the world.

International Schools Participation: a record number

Each school entered up to five racers per category, with additional racers on the reserves list. The Aiglon ski team was represented by 45 skiers each day.

The other schools that competed: Collège Alpin Beau Soleil, Geneva English School (GES), Ecolint: International School of Geneva, Haut-Lac International Bilingual School, ICS Inter-Community School Zurich, International School of Lausanne, International School of Zug and Luzern, JFK International School, La Garenne International School, Le Régent International School, Leysin American School, Neuchâtel Junior College, Préfleuri International Alpine School, St. George's International School, International School Basel, St. Gilgen International School (Austria), Verbier International School, and Zurich International School.

Highlights of the Programme

The Aiglon Cup has been taking place for over a decade and serves as a major fixture in the competitive calendar for international schools across Europe. It’s a massive logistical feat, requiring dozens of volunteers, professional coaches, and collaboration with the local Villars community.

On Sunday, to kick start the programme, Aiglon hosted the first night parallel slalom on the slopes of the Villars Palace. A highlight was when a Year 5 student took the initiative to prepare the plan for the Year 11-13 racers.

On the first day on the slopes of Bretaye, the racers participated in U10 & U12 Combi on Chaux-Ronde Rouge, U14-U19 Girls Giant Slalom on Les Vernes ski slope and the U14 & U19 Boys Giant Slalom on Chaux-Ronde Stade. The sun shone throughout the day, with spectacular views of the Dents du Midi and the surrounding mountains. To close the day all the racers and coaches gathered for the Prize Giving at the Finish Hut of Chaux Ronde to celebrate the camaraderie and sportsmanship.

“This year, the Aiglon Cup has given us all an incredible opportunity to race on some beautiful slopes and very nice conditions” stated Blake B (Year 11). “ It is also great to meet lots of new people.”

Imagine the energy (and the prep!) required to host 249 hungry guests for dinner. Our talented catering team pulled off a culinary feat, welcoming eight visiting schools to the school restaurant in our Moghadam Campus Hub.

On Tuesday, the sky was overcast but spirits were not dampened. Throughout the day the U10 & U12 competed in the Giant Slalom on Chaux-Ronde Rouge ski slope and the U14, U16 & U19 Slalom on the Chaux Ronde Stade.

Aiglon Cup Team Champions

The Aiglon Cup 2026 Team Champions title was awarded to Verbier International School. The winning team is awarded to the school who achieves the highest total team points from their top 10 results over the 2 days, split across boys and girls and a maximum of 3 in any one age category. This ensures that the overall prize is a real team effort. Congratulations! Aiglon was in 2nd position, followed by Collège Alpin Beau Soleil (3rd) and St. George's International School (4th).

In addition, there were age group team prizes up for grabs with the top 3 racers from each team in each category being scored. These team prizes were split between College Alpin Beau Soleil, Aiglon College, Zurich International School, Verbier International School and St Georges International School.
