How Aiglon's New IT Roadmap will Shape a More Connected Future

Aiglon's 2022-2024 Information Technology (IT) Roadmap was a critical first step, focused on building a robust digital foundation. We have de-commissioned much of our legacy on-premises hardware and modernised our infrastructure, standardised hardware moving away from desktop machines and streamlined systems. These changes have created a secure, modern, and flexible IT environment at Aiglon College. The focus for the next evolution of technology at the school, shifts focus from systems to the people who use them.

The IT Technical Roadmap 2025-2027 seeks to empower our students and staff. Our goal through this roadmap is to ensure that every digital and technological tool enhances efficiency, creativity, and collaboration, making technology feel seamless, intuitive, and accessible for everyone at Aiglon.

Key Initiatives of the 2025-2027 Roadmap

Areas of the new roadmap are briefly highlighted below. These initiatives are all designed to run in parallel and will hopefully create a more connected, intelligent, and human-centered future for technology use at Aiglon.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration and Enablement

Like most organisations across the globe, we will explore harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) with the goal of simplifying processes and better supporting student learning. AI will provide instant support and streamline workflows, from AI-powered tutoring to automated administrative assistance. We aim to provide every student with their own bespoke AI tutor, every administrator with their own AI PA and every teacher with their own AI powered teaching assistant.

We aim to provide every student with their own bespoke AI tutor, every administrator with their own AI personal assistant and every teacher with their own AI powered teaching assistant. I like the analogy, that AI is a race horse with our staff and students are the jockey, together they can go faster and achieve more.  For AI to work, we will establish a singular AI platform to avoid the use of multiple tools and ensure a consistent experience across Aiglon. We see AI working alongside our students and staff, providing them with a coach, a critical friend and a study buddy.

Harnessing this technology will require robust training for all staff and students on the ethical use of AI, as well as the implementation of clear safeguarding policies to address any potential risks. To be future ready Aiglon students will need to access and understand the power of this new technology. They will need to unlock its potential for creativity, faster learning and critical thinking, as well as the ability to adapt to a world in constant change.

Data-Driven decision making

Aiglon generates vast amounts of data, but much of it remains underutilised. Our new roadmap will seek to transform this unused data into actionable intelligence. Recently we appointed a Data & Business Intelligence technician, Angelo DeLeo, who will help enhance data visualisation and analytics. Hopefully this initiative will enable staff and leadership to make informed, evidence based decisions that lead to much better outcomes for our students.

IT Rationalisation and Simplification

To declutter our digital ecosystem, we will strategically assess and consolidate our IT systems. This will remove redundant software and streamline user access, leading to faster response times, reduced maintenance, and a better user experience for both staff and students. Software and system bloat is not a unique problem to Aiglon, but maintaining and using multiple overlapping systems is both time consuming, often confusing and costly. Again AI holds the key to streamlining the way we can work smarter.

Emerging Technology and Innovation

As we enter a period of unprecedented technological change, Aiglon increasingly needs to adopt a "pivot, react, play" mindset. Few people, if any, can predict the technological changes we will see over the next 10 - 15 years. We hope that the recently opened Emerging Technology Lab (E.T Lab) will provide an open space where staff and students can explore and gain hands-on experience with new technologies.

Automation and Sustainability

As we explore the capabilities of AI we will target how it can free up time from repetitive manual tasks. We will also integrate automation into key areas like smart building management (lighting, heating, security) and administrative workflows. Alongside this we will identify our environmental impact and look at steps to  initiatives to reducing energy consumption and our digital carbon footprint.

Information Governance and Cybersecurity

As our use of technology grows, so does the need for robust governance. We will review and enhance both policies and cybersecurity measures to safeguard data and protect our users. Our goal is to work towards compliance with international standards such as ISO 27001 whilst balancing the need for innovation and usability of our systems.

Elevating the User Experience (UX)

The IT team is moving from a reactive "break-fix" model to a more proactive approach to support. We will provide clear self-service options and increasingly aim to support through technology champions and more distributed channels. The roadmap also has a significant focus on auditing user skills and creating an individualised training plan for each user to ensure that everyone is supported to develop their skills and interests.

Expanding Horizons: Robotics Engineering, Esports, and STEM Opportunities

Our roadmap includes initiatives to enhance and expand our offerings in robotics engineering, esports, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We will be investing in resources to support our students in these dynamic fields. Competitive robotics and esports programs whilst fun also offer a way for students to develop teamwork, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.

An Exciting Road Ahead

The IT technical roadmap 2025- 2027 continues our journey of improvement. Our new roadmap will also be supported by supplementary projects like the move to iFinance and Roger HR to modernise our financial and human resources systems, and the introduction of Aiglon Connect to provide improved access to information and services for parents.

The IT team’s mission is to provide exceptional security, access, support, and training for all Aiglon users. We exist to serve the learning and organisational needs of Aiglon College, with the belief that the effective and appropriate use of IT can enable our community to become active, independent learners. Most importantly of all is to help prepare students for “ … tomorrow and a world in constant change.”

As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we are committed to providing excellent IT support and innovation for an exceptional school.
