On the evening of Sunday the 26th November, Belvedere House hosted its 2nd annual Thanksgiving Dinner which allowed for a delightful break to pause, reflect and give thanks in the middle of this busy and productive term. The boys of Belvedere always love the opportunity to come together as a family, and what better way to do this, than to also give thanks for the many blessings and joys in their lives at the same time.
Mr and Mrs Knight, house parents of Belvedere House, introduced this celebration last year not only to bring the house together following their own American heritage, but because it is a very personal holiday to them as Mr Knight proposed to Mrs Knight on the night of Thanksgiving seven years ago and they wanted to share this very personal family tradition with those they are closest to… their Belvedere family. The Thanksgiving meal featured a holding of hands and giving thanks, fabulous food and even a brief history lesson informing everyone about the context of the celebration’s origins.
In other Belvedere news, the boys have had a fun filled term that has included a Year 11 trip to Fun Planet for karting, a prefect dinner to Val d’Illiez, Years 12 and 13 coffee/tea and chocolate get-togethers at the Knights’ personal home and a specially organised Year 12 aperitif and wine tasting. The House is looking forward to a great set of mark readings, well completed examinations and a restful and well deserved Christmas break.
Mr and Mrs Knight would like to thank all of the house prefects, tutors and boys generally for making this such a successful term … they are feeling very thankful indeed for all their blessings!
Thanksgiving to all!
