Aiglon was privileged to welcome Lucy Jay-Kennedy (Clairmont, 1999) and Omar Kalouti (Alpina, 2010) back to campus for our first-ever alumni career panel. The event was organised together by the Admissions & Advancement Office and the College & Careers Office. Set as a traditional Wednesday evening culture, students listened attentively and interacted with the speakers as Lucy and Omar shared the story of their journeys after leaving Aiglon. They worked to impart bits of advice that might be helpful to current students as Years 11-13 consider their own future options.
Lucy works currently as the Head of Global Media Relations for IMD Business School in Lausanne after achieving success in a number of other roles with groups such as the World Economic Forum, the Solar Impulse project and EDGE Strategy. Lucy was able to connect with students on what it means to connect cross-culturally and to really engage with your work and education no matter where you are in the world.
Omar is based in Geneva, working for the Louis Dreyfus company in commodity trading. A recent graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, he completed a number of internships in the area of public policy before transitioning to the private sector. He was able to relate to both the students’ hopes and concerns as they consider their own futures and work to understand the larger impact a good education can have beyond just one career field.
We would like to thank Lucy and Omar for making the trip back up the mountain. We hope to build off this event and offer even more opportunities for alumni and current students to connect, discuss and meet in the future.
