Before the summer holidays began, Aiglon student Christina (Le Cerf, Year 13) , competed in a special Chinese proficiency competition.
Christina won first place for the secondary schools. She will now be invited to China to participate and observe in the semi-final, and final in China!
Hosted in Bern, the "Chinese Bridge" International Chinese Proficiency Competition in Switzerland is a special event that gives non-Chinese students the opportunity to compete to demonstrate their talents in the Chinese language and culture and sharing their experiences from studying Chinese.
150 people were present at the event including the Chinese ambassador to Swtizerland, Gen Wenbing, as well as other officials and Swiss experts in the study of Chinese, teachers from Confucius instituions and family members and friends of the contestants.
Ambassador Gen Wenbing presented the prizes and certificates to the winner and made a warm speech.
The competition was organised by Headquarters of Confucius Institutions/Hanban, and undertaken by the Education Department of the Chinese Embassy in Switzerland. It was supported by Confucius Institutions in the Universities of Geneva, Basel, Zurich and the Chinese Teachers’ Association and many secondary schools in Switzerland.
