Aiglon's junior students are proud to present their quintessentially Swiss - British production of "The Wind in the Willows" with a truly Aiglon twist.
Having been escorted by our cast of characters from Belvedere car park to the South Lawn below our Sports Centre and while enjoying an optional picnic, you will be transported to 1940’s England by way of an Aiglon expedition!
When Mole decides to go to the river bank one morning rather than do his spring cleaning, it is the beginning of a magical adventure. He and Ratty bump into the irrepressible, boastful Mr.Toad, owner of Toad Hall and possessor of large amounts of money and not much brain. Set in the peaceful countryside of early 20th-century England, the three enjoy a paradisiacal life picnicking on the river bank, messing about on boats, and driving around in a horse and cart, until Toad is almost run over by a motor car. Naturally, being speed-obsessed, he instantly wants one. But he neglects to pay for it and so ends up in jail for stealing the car. His escape, and his flight from the forces of justice, eventually reunite him with his friends, but has he learned humility? Or is he the same outrageous, wayward braggart as before?
"I am almost as enthusiastic about Alan Bennett's adaptation ... as Ratty is about his river." -Time Out
"Bennett has played fair with [the] original story while adding to it his own brand of astringent nostalgia and cryptic wit." -The Guardian
"A brilliantly theatrical piece of storytelling entertainment." -The Financial Times
