Students have the opportunity to volunteer at the homes of local neighbours who need some extra help.
As an addition to the service opportunities available to our students as part of their activities programme, this term Mrs Haynes and Mme Prahin have recruited 13 enthusiastic students to begin a new activity; visiting elderly members of our local community in their own homes.
We help with chores, gardening and share tea, cakes and good conversation! We are very excited by this new development and the ongoing extension to our local outreach. We were very pleased to advertise this new initiative at our regular Elderly Lunch event and meet more people who would like us to visit them every week during our Wednesday afternoon activity.
Next term we also look forward to welcoming new refugee families to the local EVAM centre, La Clariere at Arveyes. We will again begin supporting the centre with French language lessons, children's workshops and organising sporting activities.
Many staff and students are keen to show compassion and friendship towards those who are our closest neighbours.
