This term has been one of the busiest for Exeter house; from welcoming our 17 new panthers and helping them to settle in, to our House expedition involving high ropes, campfires and team building, to the House Shout competition.
This is always a challenging time of the year, especially for the year 13s who are managing many deadlines, yet we have been continuing to cope with the stressful moments with characteristic Exeter house cheer and humour.
"My highlights of the term so far have been watching the girls all give their very best in the Aiglon Challenge, even our brand new girls who were slightly baffled by the concept! Watching the nail-biting football match between the Exeter and Clairmont A teams will also remain a lasting memory for me; the combination of fierce, motivated team work with passionate support from the crowd made for a most exciting and uplifting afternoon. Exeter girls are resilient, hard-working, very funny and most importantly mutually supportive; working with them is an absolute privilege."
Mrs Tierney-Wilks - Exeter House Parent
Our deputy house captain Lea Henaux went around the house asking the girls which moments this term have made them grateful to be in Exeter House. These were their answers:
“Getting our new dishwasher. It’s life-changing because it takes only two minutes to clean the dishes and now our kitchen in so much tidier. As a house prefect I am so grateful for that!” - Anissa (Year 13)
“The overwhelming support we got from the entire house during football inter house. Although we didn’t win, I don’t think I have ever felt as united as a house.” -Angelina K (Year 10)
“Going on my High ex with Susan and Eliana. It was the perfect combination of challenge and fun, so I’m really glad I got to do that with Exeter girls.” - Eugene (Year 12)
“How much we improved in the House Shout. At first, I was a bit sceptical about our abilities but we worked hard and now we sound amazing. I’m so excited to perform.” - Masha (Year 10)
“The red velvet cake Mr Wilks made on Sunday. And making tiktok videos because it makes us laugh so hard.” - Asma and Serra (Year 11)
For me, the prefect dinners we have on Friday nights when we all cook together, laugh and sing make me very grateful to be an Exeter girl. It’s the perfect way for us to relax, catch up and forget about our huge pile of work. Plus, we get prosecco on special occasions and our house parents make great food, so its always an overall success. Lea Henaux - (Year 13)
