Starting a new year as house co-captains was an intimidating feat.
After getting back to school a day early, we spent an anticipatory night blowing up balloons, practising our welcome speech, digging our no.1 uniforms out of storage for the coming day and making big plans for the year.
The next morning, new faces entered our distinctive pink home one by one. We greeted parents, showed everyone to their rooms, and started introducing people to their future friends. We spent the evening playing icebreaker games, getting to know the new girls, and catching up with old friends.
Autumn term passed in a blur of excitement and fun. From our challenging summit of Le Grammont on house expedition to many fondue and movie nights to victory after victory in inter-house competitions, this year’s Clairmont has become a close-knit family for us all.
The start of the winter term has been just as eventful. We’ve loved seeing new students put on skis for the first time, celebrating the Year 13s’ university acceptances, and continuing to enjoy the treats made by our house charity baking team each week. We can’t wait to keep supporting the house throughout the term alongside our incredible house prefect team and house staff.
This time last year, we could only dream of being house captains. This year has revealed to us just what it takes to be an effective leader. It’s about creating a sense of community, appreciating all the unique talents and successes to be found in the house, and most importantly being in every girl’s corner on both good days and bad. We’ve learned so much so far from this experience, and we can’t wait to see where the rest of the year takes us --and Clairmont!
