Graduate Programme

The IB examinations have been cancelled. This means we have a unique opportunity to learn for the sake of learning.

Consequently we will be offering our graduating students a series of courses specifically designed to help our final year students prepare for their academic life beyond Aiglon.

Programme Structure

Aiglon academic departments and teachers will develop a curated list of university courses that are available online. Rather than based on current IB subjects, these courses will be selected with consideration of what Year 13 students plan to study at university.

Aiglon teachers will host timetabled lessons using our virtual platforms in order to move through the course material as a class. The teacher will be enrolled alongside students in these university courses to offer the assistance of a real instructor.

This is a difficult time for our graduating students. The cancellation of the IB examinations and the unexpected ending of the students' time at Aiglon creates uncertainty.

The goal of this special programme is to restore a normal learning routine for our oldest students. However, more than routine, we seek to offer valuable coursework and resources as students prepare to leave us this year.

This situation has created a significant gap in their learning as they approach the independent challenge of higher education. These courses are designed to support their future learning, challenge and inspire them and show that Aiglon students love learning for more than just exam success.

After an initial week that will bring their IB courses to a close students will be asked to commit to online courses by informing Mr Esmond Tweedie who will collate their responses and assign staff members to their course.

Then these staff members will arrange discussion groups for all the students taking part in the course and be available to discuss the concepts and ideas that arise through the programme.

Massive Open Online Courses are designed for unlimited participation and open access.

MOOCs are a recent and widely researched development in distant learning. This link provides an explanation.

In addition to traditional course materials, such as filmed lectures, readings, and problems, many MOOCs provide interactive courses with user forums or social media discussions to support community interactions among students and professors, as well as immediate feedback to quick quizzes and assignments.
