Aiglon Discovery Curriculum, Corfu
Date: May/June 2020
As part of the Aiglon Discovery Curriculum, our Year 8 students undertake two trips each year – to Tenerife and to the Ionian island of Corfu.
Corfu is the second largest island in the sparkling blue waters of the Ionian sea, just 60 miles from the heel of Italy and a short boat ride to mainland Greece. While on the island our students will absorb the entrancing culture of the Greek myths and legends. Stories of Aphrodite, Poseidon, Odysseus and Penelope will come to life as we explore this stunning area.
Excursions will include an exploration by boat of the Acheron River (entrance to the mythical Styx) and a trip to Paxi to learn more about the legend of Poseidon. We shall make the most of the crystal clear waters to explore the coastline, take part in writing activities and participate in water-based sports activities.
This trip is led by Mr. James Piggott and as part of the Aiglon Discovery Curriculum, all Year 8 students are involved.
