Music Tour and Service Project, Ghana
Date: March 2020
This exciting and innovative project aims to provide an unforgettable performance and service-based experience to our Aiglon musicians, in an exciting and colourful international environment. We plan to spend ten days in Ghana, based in the Accra area. During our visit we hope to perform a series of concerts, some on our own and some shared collaboratively with local musicians. At the core of our visit would be a two to three day service project, working with children in a charity-funded primary school. There would also be much opportunity to explore the culture and heritage of Ghanaian life, and life in sub-Saharan Africa.
The service project is based in St Nicholas School Tema, where we would work on musical projects with primary classes. Le Cerf girls have raised enough money to provide the school with 10 brass instruments and during this trip we hope to provide more brass and wind instruments, and join together with the children there in teaching, playing and integrating these into the school band.
This exciting project allows us, as a team of musicians to work together to produce something of real musical value and quality, whilst developing and extending our individual musical skills and experiencing the joy and exhilaration of performing together on tour. Through musical service we will have the opportunity to share and communicate or love, knowledge and understanding of music. For all of us this will be inspirational, and at best life-changing.
The Trip will be led by Mr. Nigel Gaston. We hope to take an invited group of 25 -30 Aiglon musicians. The trip will take place from Thursday 18th March to Friday 27th March 2020.
